Prior to Fall Semester, FSUA always has a special orientation for new Fulbrighters at the University of Arkansas during the orientation week. The purpose of the orientation is to both introduce them to FSUA as an RSO that attempts to serve and meet the needs of UA foreign Fulbrighters and to provide them with specific information that all Fulbrighters must know such as uploading required documents to IIE portal, Fulbright enrichment seminar, Grantax filing report, etc. This year, the FSUA orientation was on Wednesday, August 17th at ISS Classroom, Holcombe Hall from 4.30 to 6pm.
Febriyanti Lestari, the current FSUA president, led the whole orientation program. Gloria Passmore, FSUA primary advisor, helped explain the details of how FSUA was established in 2011 through 2012 when the first executive boards are elected. Also, she clarified about the new ITIN procedure and insurance. Meanwhile, DeDe Long, FSUA second advisor, elaborated on the American exchange students studying abroad. Sergio Mosquera, the current FSUA treasurer, talked about ASPE and some good restaurants in Fayetteville. Among the attendees were Cleeford from Haiti, Alesia and Vera from Belarus, Lancina from Mali, Abdelkader from Mauritania, Paulo from Angola, Temuujin and Oyut from Mongolia, Jesus Moreno from Panama, Andre Grant from Jamaica, Blend from Kosovo, Hatidza from Bosnia, Boitshepo from Botswana, Tanny from Ecuador, Fran from Argentina, Febby from Indonesia, Willie, and some senior Fulbrighters such as Waltram, Yheni, and Tri, and the Former President of FSUA Sittie Macabago. Only four incoming Fulbrighters did not attend the meeting because they were still in home countries. Some snacks and drinks were provided during the program.
