In the midst of busy preparation for the Fulbright Friendsgiving, FSUA was struck by the sad news on the death of Regis Koumba’s mother Maman Matoundou Germaine. The Fulbright skit practice had to be done in the absence of Regis Koumba who should play the Senator Fulbright. To help ease the burden of our fellow Fulbrighter, FSUA officer organized fundraising from FSUA members, and $500 was successfully raised within 2 days. To show more love and support, these Fulbrighters wrote some words of encouragement, but uniquely they did in their own languages. The funeral was on Friday, Nov 11th, 2016. A gathering was also organized by African Student Organization (ASO) in Regis’ apartment. It was attended by some Fulbrighters and African students. Rest in Peace, Maman Matoundou Germaine 🙂
