Being a Fulbrighter is not only about pursuing success in academic achievement but also about being engaged in the community where they live in. As part of the community of Fayetteville, Fulbright scholars at the University of Arkansas feel the need to give back and contribute to bring positive impact on this city. On Saturday, April 9th, Febriyanti Lestari and Dimas Bangun (Indonesian Fulbrighters), Sebastian Garrido (Panamanian Fulbrighter), and Raza Mahmood (Pakistani Fulbrighter) with more than thirty other volunteers, of both UA students and local people, were excited to help pick up trash and clean the areas around Lake Fayetteville from 9 AM to noon. This program was held by Lake Fayetteville Watershed Quality and University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. It works side by side with the Keep Arkansas Beautiful project. The on-site program coordinator, Colin Masey, told us that the following clean up will be in October this year. We hope more people take part in this event.
