AED Initiation Banquet

Thank you for your interest in joining Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Premedical Honors Society, at the University of Arkansas!

To be eligible to apply, students must:

  • Be enrolled in a health-professional curriculum
  • Have completed at least 3 semesters of preprofessional studies (45 hours total, which can include AP/IB credit, transfer credit, and concurrent credit)
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 GPA on a 4.00 scale
  • Have a cumulative science GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4.00 scale (biology, chemistry, physics, and math) You can find this using the provided GPA calculator.

 To become a member, complete all portions of the application below and turn it in on February 2nd, the same date of our Welcome Back Meeting which will be held on Zoom. This meeting will also include information for becoming an AED Executive Officer for 2021-2022. 

Membership in AED requires a one-time national fee of $75.00 and a one-time chapter fee of $10.00 ($85.00 total fee). Checks should be made out to Alpha Epsilon Delta: Arkansas Alpha and mailed in to AED. Money orders will also be accepted. Please ensure that your name is on the check/money order. If multiple applicants are sharing a check/money order, please ensure that all applicant names are included on the check/money order. Please make sure that the money order is completely filled out. Venmo is also available for those interested in completing the process completely online. More information about this method is listed below.

Attendance is mandatory for the AED Initiation Banquet on February 24th at 6:30 PM on Zoom to become a member of AED.

  • AED Chapter: Arkansas Alpha
  • To find your anticipated graduation date, check the UARK five-year calendar.
  • Overall GPA can be calculated using the provided GPA Calculator or found on your transcript.
    • An official transcript can be found on UA Connect by clicking on the drop-down box on the left side of the page and selecting “Transcript: View Unofficial”. Click the arrows to the right of the box to proceed to the next page and then select “Unofficial Copy” on the Report Type drop-down box. Cumulative GPA will be listed at the bottom of the page.
  • Science GPA can be calculated using the provided GPA Calculator, which includes BIOL, CHEM, PHYS, and MATH classes (does not include KINS, PSYC, or ENGR courses).
  • Sign the document by hand. No electronic signatures will be accepted.

  • Use Adobe Acrobat Reader to ensure the form fills in properly.

  • Make sure to fill in your name as you would like it to appear on the honorary event program.
  • List the check or money order number at the bottom of the form

  • Science GPA can include BIOL, CHEM, PHYS, and MATH classes (does not include KINS, PSYC, or ENGR courses).
  • Include AP/IB credit, transfer credit, and concurrent credit.

 

Unofficial and Official transcripts are acceptable for your application. Unofficial transcripts can be found on UAConnect. Click “Manage Classes,” then “View My Grades,” then “My Academics,” and click “View My Unofficial Transcript.” Official transcripts can be obtained at the Office of the Registrar in Silas Hunt Hall. Because official transcripts are not required, it is recommended to use an unofficial transcript for your own benefit.

  • Attendance to the AED Initiation Banquet honorary event is mandatory to become a member of AED.
  • If you have a lab at the time of the event, you will need to plan to complete that lab in the same week on a different day.
  • Complete the form and make arrangements to attend the AED Initiation Banquet event.

  • Money orders will also be accepted. (please make sure they are filled out completely)
  • Make sure checks are signed. (please make sure your name is on the check somewhere)
  • If you are paying for both you and a friend, make sure to include both names in the Memo section of the check or on the money order.
