What counts as a community service hour?

Service is the giving of one’s time, energy and talents to benefit either the campus or local community. Community service involves making a difference to these entities through the actions of caring for others by the chapter and/or its members

You may complete as many inside community service hours as you want! Check out our Givepulse for our opportunities.

You may submit up to 5 outside community service hour activities to count toward your semester requirements.

Important! You may “double dip” your hours if you are part of other organizations that require hours (i.e., Greek Life). You MAY NOT have been paid to complete an activity. Getting paid to do volunteer work is not actually volunteer work. 🙂

Examples of outside community service hours:

  • volunteering at a church or animal shelter
  • tutoring sessions
  • making and donating blankets to the shelter
