Jemima Pierre is a Junior from Houston, Texas studying Industrial Engineering. Jemima choose engineering due to the many opportunities within her field of study; she loves to explore different career paths while not being limited on what she can do.
Why NSBE: ” Being on the NSBE Executive Board is really important to me. I want to bring engineers together, boost our confidence in what we’re learning, and create an inclusive space that celebrates diversity and community engagement in our chapter.”

Isabella Martinez
Programs and Communication Chair
Isabella Martinez is a Senior from Bryant, Arkansas studying Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity. Isabella choose engineering through her classes in middle school and high school. Her teacher influenced her to pursue a major in Cybersecurity. Isabella loves the challenges and problem solving that comes from Cybersecurity. She will be pursing her Master’s Degree in Computer Science with a certification in Cybersecurity. She hopes to one day work with government agencies upon completing her degrees.
Why NSBE: ” I love seeing people who look like me wanting to pursue a degree in a field where there are not many black or brown individuals. Being apart of NSBE allows me to build a network of people who want to see me succeed and motivate me to the best of my abilities.”

Naomi Tchoungang

Naomi Tchoungang is a Junior Biomedical Engineering student. Naomi chose to study Biomedical Engineering because she valued the critical and analytical thinking skills the major offers. Her goal is to become a doctor and believes that Biomedical Engineering can open more doors than the traditional biology route. This path allows Naomi to integrate engineering principles with medical knowledge, providing a unique and versatile skill set that can enhance a future career in medicine.
Why NSBE: ” I chose to be on the committee for NSBE because I saw a safe space where black engineers could come together and motivate each other providing a platform for networking , professional development and making a positive impact within the engineering community.”

Blake Hunter is a Junior Mechanical Engineer. Blake chose to study Mechanical Engineering because of the expanding automotive industry and opportunities he wants to be apart of. Blake is also a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, being a Fall ’23 initiate of the Kappa Kappa Chapter here on the the University of Arkansas Campus.
