About HKN National

Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) is a national honor society for electrical and computer engineers, which was founded in 1904 by Maurice L. Carr at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. HKN then merged with IEEE in September 1 of 2010. It has over 200,000 members worldwide and 200 student chapters in countries such as United States, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, and South Africa.

IEEE Eta Kappa Nu has had the opportunity to induct highly notable engineers of our society. A few worthy mentions are Steve Wozniak (Apple Inc. co-founder), Larry Page (Google Inc. co-founder), and Eric Schmidt (current executive chairman of Alphabet Inc.).

About Our Chapter

At the University of Arkansas, it is our main goal to establish program that help students from both the Electrical Engineering (ELEG) Department, and the Computer Science and Computer Engineering (CSCE) Department academically. These programs involve activities such as tutoring and mentoring.

Besides being involved with schools programs, we also participate in outreach activities in the North West Arkansas region such as cleaning up Fayetteville’s Wilson Park.
